The International Science Council (ISC) and All European Academies (ALLEA) invite you to attend their Second conference on the Ukraine crisis: One year into the Ukrainian war, exploring the impact on the science sector and supporting initiatives. The conference will take place virtually on 20-22 March 2023.
CONFERENCE AIMS
This second conference aims to follow-up on the discussions and recommendations of the initial conference by continuing to bring attention and urgency to the situation in Ukraine, specifically its impact relating to academia and scientific research one year into the war. The conference aims to mobilize the scientific community to critically examine the surge of protection and support efforts during the past year and assess ways forward for enhanced support and post-conflict reconstruction. The war in Ukraine highlights the global implications and consequences which result when there are wholescale attacks on higher education and science systems – the science sector needs to play an active role during times of crisis in order to better prepare, protect, respond and rebuild. There is a need for on-going coordination of programs, policies, and advocacy.
PROGRAM
The first day of the conference will include several plenary and panel sessions. A series of more in-depth meetings hosted by partner organisations are planned for day two and three.
We are pleased to announce that at the invitation of our European colleagues, the NRFU will also participate in the conference.
March 20 (9:15 – 10:00 СЕТ) – discussion on the general overview of research funding in Ukraine and challenges at wartime.
March 21 (14:00 – 17:00 СЕТ) – session on professional development on research management and European integration co-organized by the NRFU and Science Europe. This high-level session will bring together the perspectives of Ukrainian and European stakeholders and institutions to investigate ways to support the Ukrainian research system and develop state-of-the-art practices and processes to manage national and European funding effectively.
