On February 25, 2025, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine appointed Oksana Kis as the Head of the National Research Foundation of Ukraine for the period from March 8, 2025, to April 18, 2027.
Professor Oksana Kis is a Ukrainian scholar, historian, and anthropologist, Doctor of Historical Sciences, and a leading researcher at the Department of Social Anthropology at the Institute of Ethnology of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. She is President of the Ukrainian Association for Research in Women’s History and a co-founder of the Ukrainian Association for Oral History.
Her research interests encompass Ukrainian women’s history, feminist anthropology, oral history, gender transformations in post-socialist countries, feminist studies and activism in contemporary Ukraine, and daily life in displaced persons’ camps in post-war Europe.
Since 2019, Prof. Kis has been a member of the NRFU Scientific Council, Head of the Section of Social and Humanitarian Sciences, and Deputy Head of the Foundation.
Prof. Kis has extensive experience in research and project management. Her professional expertise and strategic mindset will be directed towards further developing the National Research Foundation of Ukraine and supporting research initiatives that strengthen the country’s research potential.
