DORA launches practical guide for Research Funding Organisations

The National Research Foundation of Ukraine (NRFU) is pleased to share information about a new initiative by DORA (Declaration on Research Assessment) – the launch of A Practical Guide to Implementing Responsible Research Assessment at Research Funding Organizations.

This new resource is designed to support research funding organizations in strengthening approaches to research assessment, with a focus on improving research quality, equity, and societal impact.

The launch of the Guide is timed to coincide with DORA’s 13th anniversary. On this occasion, a series of three online panel events will be held in May 2026 in collaboration with the Global Research Council and Science Europe.

These events will feature introductions by DORA’s Chairs and commentary from invited speakers from across regions to exchange experiences and practical insights on how the principles of responsible research assessment (RRA) can be integrated into different policies, funding, and institutional frameworks.

Depending on your region, you may choose a convenient time to participate:

  • Americas: Wednesday, 13 May 2026, 14:00 EDT – register here
  • Asia-Pacific: Thursday, 14 May 2026, 14:00 AEST – register here
  • Africa & Europe: Thursday, 14 May 2026, 12:00 BST – register here

The Guide was co‑developed with funders and partners from across the global research ecosystem, and was designed as a flexible and inspirational resource, recognizing that there is no single model for implementing RRA. Through the launch event and follow-up discussions, funders are invited to explore how its principles and tools can be adapted to different national and institutional contexts.
