Open4UA National Forum to Advance Open Science and Research Assessment in Ukraine

On 4–6 June 2026, the Open4UA Project Consortium will host the National Forum on Open Science and Advancing Research Assessment at the H. I. Denysenko Scientific and Technical Library of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute in Kyiv. The Forum will be held in a hybrid format with live streaming, bringing together Ukrainian and European experts, policymakers, university leaders, researchers, and project partners.

The event is a major dissemination and outreach milestone of the Erasmus+ CBHE project Open Science for the Ukrainian Higher Education System — Open4UA. The project aims to support Ukraine’s post-war recovery and European integration by fostering the adoption of Open Science principles at national, institutional, and individual researcher levels.

The Forum programme will focus on key priorities such as legislative alignment, research assessment reform, the development of Open Science policies, and institutional transformation in Ukrainian higher education. Featured sessions will include high-level discussions with representatives of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, the National Research Foundation of Ukraine, the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, and the National Agency for Higher Education Quality Assurance, alongside leading European experts and members of the Open4UA Advisory Board.

Particular emphasis will be placed on the outcomes of Open4UA pilot initiatives implemented in Ukrainian higher education institutions, the role of the Coordination Council on Open Science under the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, and opportunities for collaboration with European projects and initiatives in Open Science, research assessment, reproducibility, and digital transformation.

The Forum will serve as a national platform for exchanging best practices, gathering stakeholder feedback, and strengthening the knowledge base needed to advance Open Science and responsible research assessment across Ukraine’s higher education system.
