The fourth day of the Global Research Council Annual Meeting

Topics presented and discussed at the GRC Annual Meeting on the fourth day were versatile like on the previous days.

The day started early with virtual sessions for members participating online. Presenters from China, Zimbabwe, Ireland, Chile, New Zealand, and Japan spoke about best practices and shared case studies on science and technology workforce and research ethics, integrity and culture.

At the off-line section, special attention was given to results of the Gender Working Group and the Working Group on Research Ethics, Integrity, and Culture.

President of the National Natural Science Foundation of China delivered a comprehensive presentation ‘Science: Facing Global Challenges in Shifting Its Paradigm’. In fact, almost every speaker mentioned numerous global challenges societies have been recently facing, among them COVID-19 pandemic and the shocking events in Ukraine. The challenges are so serious that national research systems can hardly react adequately and quickly to them. The only solution for achieving high-quality quick results is through co-creating collaborative multinational research, which in itself is also a challenge.

The final session was about GRC future directions: its vision, role and roadmap.

The following GRC Annual Meeting was announced to be held in the Hague, the Netherlands.
