The NRFU plans to renew cooperation with science foundations of Germany, Japan and Belarus, as well as to establish partnerships with Poland, the United States and France.

The National Research Foundation of Ukraine is resuming bilateral cooperation with foreign science foundations, previously initiated by the predecessor of the NRFU ‒ the  State Foundation for Fundamental Research of Ukraine. In particular, the closer collaboration will begin with the German Research Foundation (Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft, DFG), the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science and the Belarusian Republican Foundation for Fundamental Research.

«Nowadays we should significantly intensify our international cooperation. Firstly we plan to negotiate with three science foundations that have previously worked with the National Foundation for Fundamental Research of Ukraine. This cooperation was successful. For example, there were constant joint competitions in various scientific fields, including physics and mathematics, which provided opportunities for our scientists to conduct advanced research with foreign colleagues. Also, we are going to renew and develop such opportunities», – said Olga Polotska, Executive Director of the NRFU.

«Thus, the draft bilateral documents with the German Research Foundation (DFG) have already been prepared, that will determine the general framework conditions for scientific cooperation.

Certainly, we are going to expand the range of countries and areas for cooperation. Our new partners may be the following ones: the National Science Center (Poland), the National Science Foundation (USA), the National Research Agency (France). Regarding the possible areas of cooperation that are planned, these are: joint research projects, seminars, workshops, conferences, exchange of researchers and experts, academic mobility, etc.», ‒ explained Olga Polotska.

It should be noted that in 2020 more than 900 applications have been submitted for the first two calls of the National Research Foundation of Ukraine – «Science for Human Security and Society» and «Support for Research of Leading and Young Scientists».
