Funding directions

The National Research Foundation selects and funds, on a competitive basis, scientific research and development projects in all fields of science, including natural, technical, social and humanitarian fields. In order to systematize and analyze the scientific results obtained during the implementation of projects that received grant support, the National Research Foundation forms databases of participants of competitions and their projects.

The issues of technical equipment for scientific and research activities, the availability and supply of the most modern and advanced equipment and technologies to be needed for the implementation of scientific research and developments, and the creating, operation and development of research infrastructure in Ukraine and its integration into the global research infrastructure, are important factors to obtain a crucially new scientific result. In view of this, development of modern material technological and technical base, research infrastructure of scientific organizations, including key state laboratories, and educational institutions is one of the priority areas, according to which grants of the National Research Foundation are provided.

The development of national and international scientific cooperation is an important part of the tasks assigned to the National Research Foundation. Increasing the level of scientific mobility of national scholars and scientists, enabling them to become more actively involved in conferences and symposiums, including international ones, is an integral part of the Foundation's activity. Among the various forms of scientific cooperation, particular attention is paid to funding of the joint researches, conducted by various scientific institutions and /or educational organizations.

In today's dynamic world, knowledge is a crucial resource that allows achieving and retaining competitive advantage in any imaginary or real leadership race. Recognizing the important role played by scientific information and knowledge in the social and economic life of the country, the National Research Foundation provides competitive financial support for knowledge transfer and dissemination, as well as the popularization of such knowledge.

Taking into account the crucial role of financial support for the initiatives of young scientists in the development of the scientific potential of the state in the long term perspective, the National Research Foundation provides grant support for projects of young scientists, as well as attracting young people to scientific and scientific-technical activities.

Within activity of the National Research Foundation, the state financial support is provided for other scientific directions and projects, which are determined by the Scientific Council of the Foundation as an important and necessary projects for certain economics fields or entire society.
