The National Research Foundation of Ukraine is pleased to share information on the opening of nominations for the Into Change Award 2026 – a European award, supported by the Danish Ministry of Science, Higher Education and Digital Affairs which recognises outstanding research groups whose work contributes to scientific breakthroughs, drives innovation, and delivers tangible societal impact.
The award aims to highlight the key role of science and innovation in Europe’s ability to understand complex global challenges, find shared solutions, and ensure sustainable and long-term development. It also emphasises the importance of international collaboration, bringing together researchers from different countries, disciplines, and institutions.
Who Can Be Nominated
Research groups across all fields of science and research from institutions in Europe, consisting of 3 to 8 named members, are invited to participate. Self-nominations are not permitted.
Assessment criteria
The award recognises research teams that demonstrate:
- exceptional research contributions or insights that have made a substantial impact within their respective fields;
- substantial societal impact, including contributions to addressing challenges related to the environment, security, democracy, competitiveness, as well as to public debate, welfare, and services;
- core values of research: scientific curiosity, collaboration, responsibility and accountability, mutual respect, and openness.
Funding
In 2026, the total award amount is DKK 8 million. Each named member of the winning research group receives an honorary award of DKK 100,000, while the remaining funds is awarded as a framework grant for distribution between the group members.
Submission deadline
Submissions for nominations are open on 10 June 2026 and close on 14 August 2026 at 12:00 (CET), and are made via the platform: www.e-grant.dk.
The award ceremony is provisionally scheduled to take place in Copenhagen on 16 December 2026 (date to be confirmed).
