Conclusions of the first two COST webinars

On September 15, the second webinar specially organized for the NRFU by the Organization for European Cooperation in Science and Technology (COST) took place.

In March 2022, after a series of consultations and negotiations with colleagues from the Organization, in which representatives of the NRFU were involved in particular, Ukraine joined the COST family. This was a big step forward and an impetus to start cooperation between institutions.

The first of the webinars for the NRFU “Open Call and Evaluation system training”, conducted by the COST representatives Estelle Emerio and Rosella Magli, took place on September 13. The processes of submitting, reviewing, selecting and approving applications and how the COST works in general were discussed in detail during the session.

Colleagues from the COST not only shared the information with us in a live format, but also kindly agreed to provide us with presentation materials so that everyone who could not join the event could read them and, what is extremely important, access their expert database. Materials can be found below.

Webinar presentation «Open Call and Evaluation System training»

The second event “How to present your research with impact”, held September 15, was organized specially for grantees and employees of the Foundation. The training was in an interactive format, so all participants were actively involved.

The speaker was Hans Van de Water – author of numerous works and co-founder of The Floor is Yours company, which works under the slogan “life is too short for bad presentations”. The company has already trained thousands of researchers in the techniques needed to prepare and deliver effective presentations, including us. Based on his own rich experience, Hans gave useful tips and tricks aimed at achieving success in the audience and offered solutions to all possible problems with the presentation of projects. The participants of the event learned how to hold the attention of the audience, achieve the desired results, and also saw a number of classic examples of bad presentations to immediately understand what speeches should not be.

The Foundation expresses its sincere gratitude to the COST for the events that are so important for Ukrainian researchers now, in terms of war, and we also look forward to further fruitful cooperation!
