Delegation of the Polish Academy of Sciences visited the NRFU

A delegation from Poland, consisting of the President of the Polish Academy of Sciences (PAS), Mr. Jerzy Duszynski and acting the director of the PAS representative office in Kyiv, Mr. Mateusz Bialas, visited the National Research Foundation of Ukraine.

The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the further development of cooperation in the scientific sphere of Ukraine and Poland, as well as the reform of the Ukrainian scientific ecosystem by the standards of the European Union, including funding of scientific research on a grant basis.

Prof. Jerzy Dushynski reported that the academies of sciences of Great Britain, the USA, Germany, Denmark and other developed Western countries are ready to provide significant funding to the Polish Academy of Sciences for its further direction in support of Ukrainian researchers. Considering this fact, one of the proposals from the PAS was the creation of a virtual institute for Ukrainian scientists, where they could work for grant funds from international partners. Such cooperation could become the basis for the modernization of Ukrainian science and a model for the institution of the future.

The President of the Polish Academy expressed his gratitude to the NRFU for cooperation with PAS and other scientific and educational institutions in Poland and emphasized that interaction with Ukrainian colleagues is extremely important for the Polish scientific community.

The executive director of the NRFU, Olga Polotska, thanked our Polish colleagues for their unconditional and extremely specific support for Ukraine during the fight against the russian aggressor, as well as for their willingness to provide broad support for the European integration modernization of Ukrainian science.
