LUKE Project Newsletter (December 2025 Special Edition)

The LUKE project is releasing its 4th Special Newsletter, designed to keep you informed about the latest developments and upcoming opportunities within our project, featuring a pre-announcement of the LUKE Joint Call.

Dear Readers and Partners,

The LUKE project has started in January 2025. Now, close to the end of the year, we see the culmination of several project activities that have been started over the last months and first achievements can be seen. We are happy to present to you already the second LUKE newsletter in this month! It is devoted to the ‘LUKE Joint Call’, one of the central objectives of the LUKE project.

Establishing a ‘European joint funding initiative for R&I projects’ is in itself already a challenging task. The efforts needed for this are energy-intensive, but also very rewarding and creating added value – both on the side of the participating Funding Parties as well as for the multilateral R&I projects that will eventually be funded.

Establishing a multilateral R&I call that focuses on an important European country that is in the fourth year of open war is different. There are many more practical difficulties that need to be overcome. But there are also many more things to learn from our partners in Ukraine: How to mobilise resources, how to be resilient and how to remain human whilst being faced with multiple forms of violence.

We are very much honored to present this newsletter focused on the LUKE Joint Call. It reflects the process of work and what we have achieved so far. And it features a pre-announcement of the LUKE Joint Call.

Wishing you a pleasant read and peaceful season’s greetings!

Jörn Grünewald,

Project Coordinator,
DLR Project Management Agency, Germany
