LUKE webinars on science diplomacy: Practical tools and insights for Ukrainian researchers and RMAs

Two LUKE webinars “Science diplomacy in practice: From partner search to a LUKE joint call consortium” on 29 December and 30 December 2025 brought together researchers and research managers and administrators from across Ukraine to explore how to move from partner search to a strong LUKE Joint Call consortium.

The first webinar on 29 December attracted over 60 participants, followed by a second session on 30 December with over 40 participants. During webinars science, diplomacy, consortium building basics, call essentials, practical partner search tools and how effective science communication helps build trust, align expectations and facilitate partner interest were discussed.

The programme also featured guest speaker Inga Ulmane, Counsellor of Economic and Commercial Affairs at the Embassy of Latvia in Austria, Head of the Representative Office in Austria for the Investment and Development Agency of Latvia. She shared practical insights on how to find partnerships through the diplomatic circle and how diplomatic networks can support researchers and companies in their search for partners.

Additionally, Emmanuel Glenck the member of the LUKE Joint Call Funding Parties from Austrian Research Promotion Agence (FFG), provided highlights on the Austrian stakeholder landscape and opportunities for identifying suitable partners.

During both webinars, participants contributed questions on consortium development and applicant eligibility which will be integrated into a LUKE Joint Call Q&A file. A short feedback survey was shared at the end of each webinar to help shape future support activities and follow-up guidance.

These two webinars followed up on the national science-business matchmaking event and provide a basis for the upcoming international matchmaking event under the LUKE initiative.
