On September 28, 2026, a russian drone struck the building of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, causing a fire. Two persons were killed and several others were injured.
This is yet another painful blow to Ukrainian science. According to the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, more than 300 Academy facilities have been destroyed or damaged since the beginning of russia’s full-scale invasion. Behind every one of these numbers are people, their work, their research, and years of dedication.
The NRFU extends its deepest condolences to the families of the persons who were killed and wishes recovery to everyone who was injured.
The NRFU stands with our colleagues at the NASU as partners and fellow members of Ukraine’s scientific community. We will continue to support research and the restoration of scientific work.
These are difficult times, but the scientific community remains united. Together, we will continue our work and rebuild everything that was lost.
