The NRFU is launching the process of selecting and nominating Ukrainian female researchers for their inclusion into the international database AcademiaNet in 2024

We are pleased to inform you that aiming at rendering support to Ukrainian female researchers, as well as within implementation of the mission and objectives of the National Research Foundation of Ukraine which include, in particular, international exchange of information and researchers, popularization of research and scientific and technical activities, development of research infrastructure in Ukraine and its integration into the global research infrastructure, etc. the NRFU is launching the second round of selecting and nominating Ukrainian female researchers for their inclusion into the international database AcademiaNet in 2024!

As a reminder, in 2022, the National Research Foundation of Ukraine signed an Agreement on the nomination of Ukrainian female researchers to the international database AcademiaNet. In 2020, the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) took over the management of the network.

Under the Agreement, in 2023, the Scientific Council of the Foundation selected the first 32 candidates for nomination, whose profiles have already been published in the AcademiaNet database. More information about the results of the preliminary nomination can be found here.

Briefly about AcademiaNet

AcademiaNet was launched in Germany by the Robert Bosch Stiftung in 2010. The publisher Spektrum der Wissenschaft operates the portal. AcademiaNet is an international database containing more than 3,150 profiles of female researchers in all fields of research from more than 40 countries. In addition, the website http://www.academia-net.org/ contains news about AcademiaNet members and women in science.

The National Research Foundation of Ukraine will nominate female researchers who have direct professional relations with the NRFU (including members of the NRFU Call Commissions, PI`s of the winning projects, experts, who participated in reviewing of call applications for the NRFU grant support, etc).

The nominees shall met the AcademiaNet selection criteria, including:

  • outstanding academic qualifications (depending on discipline: publishing, prizes and awards, independently raised funding, patents, invitations to conference talks etc;)
  • independent leadership activities;
  • academic credentials;
  • further supporting criteria (balancing family with academic career, international experience, positions held as visiting professor, teaching activities, social commitment, involvement in research and university committees/commissions, etc.)
