The NRFU meets representatives of the Academy of Finland

Last week, NRFU representatives had an online meeting with the President of the Academy of Finland Paula Eerola and the Manager for International Affairs Johanna Hakala. The discussion was focused on the measures of supporting Ukrainian researchers.

We have previously announced that the Academy of Finland holds calls to support Ukrainian researchers. So far, 2 calls have been held with the participation of researchers who are still in Ukraine or were forced to leave because of the war.

According to the results of the first call, nine researchers from Ukraine were invited to Finland. They work in Finnish research groups that have applied for funding. The duration of the visits was determined individually, but most institutions applied for two-year funding. The winners of the second call have not yet been determined, as the submission of applications has just been completed.

We are grateful to our colleagues from Finland for their strong position and support initiatives which are especially important for Ukrainian researchers now. We look forward to the results of the latest call and further cooperation between our institutions.
