Ukrainian researcher Svitlana Krakovska is among the 10 most influential scientists of 2022 by Nature

Nature is one of the most reputable and oldest scientific journals in the world. At the end of last year, the magazine ranked 10 prominent people who played an important role in key events in science in 2022, helped to make amazing discoveries, and brought attention to crucial issues.

Svitlana Krakovska is working in climate science. In the 2000s, she discovered the incipient field of regional climate modelling and became the first Ukrainian scientist to apply it to her country. She also worked on cloud-seeding experiments to enhance precipitation in the Ukrainian steppes. Today, Svitlana has become an international advocate for her country. She linked russia’s invasion to climate change, calling it a ‘fossil-fuel war’.

In the international ranking by Nature, participants are introduced through a personal story. To read Svitlana Krakovska’s story, entitled “A Voice for Ukraine,” please follow the link: https://cutt.ly/g9wrvex
