Building Capacity in the Ukrainian R&I Research Ecosystem: SE-NRFU Webinar Series continues

Since the first days of the full-scale war, Science Europe (SE) and its member organisations have taken actions to support the National Research Foundation of Ukraine (NRFU) and the Ukrainian research community. Within the framework of this partnership, the NRFU and SE have been organising a series of online webinars since September 2025 dedicated to the development of Ukraine’s research and innovation ecosystem. The initiative aims to strengthen the capacity of Ukrainian science, support the management of research projects during the war and post-war recovery, and expand opportunities for Ukrainian researchers within the international research area.

Throughout 2025–2026, three online webinars have been held as part of the series:

  1. 19 September 2025 Balancing bottom-up and top-down research funding

Report on the results of the 1st webinar

  1. 25 November 2025 – Developing and implementing monitoring tools for R&D projects

Report on the results of the 2nd webinar

  1. 20 February 2026 – Open Science policies and practices of research funding organisations

Report on the results of the 3rd webinar

We are pleased to announce that the webinar series will continue in 2026.

The new cycle of events will bring together representatives of the Ukrainian and European research communities to discuss approaches to research assessment, practical aspects of research projects management, and strategies for risk mitigation in the research funding process.

Schedule of Webinars in 2026

  • 26 June 2026 – Transforming research assessment systems: criteria, quality, and societal impact
  • 18 September 2026 – Financial management of research projects: from grant application to successful implementation
  • 27 November 2026 – Risk management in research funding: approaches, tools, and international practices

All webinars are scheduled to take place from 10.00–11.30 CET (11.00–12.30 EET).

The language of the workshops is English, with simultaneous translation into Ukrainian provided for participants.

Registration for the webinars will open shortly.
