THE NATIONAL RESEARCH FOUNDATION HAS SIGNED A MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING WITH THE DUTCH RESEARCH COUNCIL (NWO)

We are pleased to announce that a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the National Research Foundation of Ukraine and the Dutch Research Council (NWO) in The Hague, Netherlands today. The purpose of this MoU is to officially record the mutual interest of the Dutch research Council and the National Research Foundation of Ukraine in promoting and developing scientific relations between the two institutions.

In accordance with the MoU, the NRFU and the NWO have expressed their intention to cooperate in the following areas:

  • promoting the international exchange of information and researchers in the process of scientific and technical activities;
  • conducting collaborative scientific events as a result or during collaborative activities;
  • participation in joint initiatives such as calls including bilateral or multilateral calls, subject to negotiation of the appropriate contractual terms and to the necessary funding being available, etc.

During the visit to the Hague, Olga Polotska attended a number of meetings with NWO officials regarding a wide spectrum of NWO activities to share experience and best practices of grant funding of research projects, in which all sister organizations, including the National Research Foundation of Ukraine, are invited to participate. The meetings were devoted to the discussions of enhancing the institutional capacity of the NRFU by providing expert support and sharing NWO’s best practices for competitive selection of research projects; exchanging views on the development of effective tools to support the Ukrainian research system; ways to strengthen cooperation between the NWO and the NRFU at the institutional level, etc.

Special attention was focused on the discussion of the partnership initiative ‘NWO-NRFU Hop-On Call for Researchers Based In Ukraine’, which is aimed at supporting researchers based in Ukraine. Active work on the initiative has been going on for several months. To stay tuned about the announcement on the launch of the initiative, follow the news on our official website and social media.
